A few years ago, I embarked on a creative endeavor – designing an illustration of a woman passionately playing the trumpet. My motivation was to participate in an illustration contest for a music festival, and the project was a labor of love. Fast forward to today, and I find myself revisiting this artistic creation in a whole new light.
A Shift in Perspective
What led to this revisit, you might ask? The answer lies in the captivating world of Opt Art, particularly the inspiring illustrations by Malika Favre. Her work, characterized by bold and minimalistic designs, caught my attention and fueled my imagination.
Drawing from this newfound inspiration, I made the decision to repurpose my trumpet-playing muse. The Opt Art style, with its emphasis on geometric patterns and a play of negative space, allowed me to transform my initial creation into something entirely different. It’s amazing how a shift in perspective and artistic approach can breathe new life into a familiar concept.
A New Life for my Illustration
So, what’s next for my redesigned illustration? I now have the opportunity to use it for my own purposes, whether it’s for personal projects, showcasing my artistic evolution, or even contributing to new contests and exhibitions. The beauty of art lies in its endless possibilities and the ability to adapt and evolve over time. Here’s one of the way it is used on my etsy page
In the end, this journey has been a testament to the ever-changing nature of creativity. What began as an entry into a music festival illustration contest has now transformed into an exploration of Opt Art and a rediscovery of my own artistic capabilities. It’s a reminder that, as artists, we can always find new ways to breathe fresh life into our creations, no matter how much time has passed.
Art, like life, is an ever-evolving journey, and I can’t wait to see where it leads me next.
